Champagne Vilmart Grand Cellier d’Or 2014

🌜I think patience & humility are 2 important things for winegrowers🌛 @champagnevilmart is a respected producer who delivers & over-delivers quality & consistency year after year. So I was quite shocked to hear such humble & honest words from @laurent_champs

11 ha of vineyards are mainly in the village of Rilly-la-Montagne & ✨ Paradox ✨ is the word he uses to explain the holdings which consist of more Chardonnay than Pinot Noir in the area is known for Pinot Noir & Meunier. But why? Apparently, it was a decision made by his grandfather as he believed the south-facing hillside vineyard « Les Blanches Voies » of chalky soils would be good for Chardonnay. Close to half of his vineyards (5 ha) are here & his ✨ Grand Cellier d’Or ✨ is made from 80% Chardonnay & 20% Pinot Noir raised on this special site.

Vintage 2014 radiates a golden yellow color of sun-kissed lemon in a glass with notes of pineapple, orange & mango that are intricately complemented by the warmth of brioche, hazelnuts & pralines together with exotic greetings from hints of gingerbread & cardamom while racy acidity of beautiful posture with a salinity of pure white chalk & crushed oyster shells take elegant steps on the palate.

🌜I want to make wines that give feelings & emotions to people🌛says Laurent whose patience & humility I respect sincerely as I fall for the allure of his wines that continue to capture our hearts 💫
