Jacques Selosse Sous le Mont Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Egly-Ouriet V.P.

Sous le Mont has the youngest reserve wines of the 6 lieux-dits. Unlike the southern slopes of La Côte Faron in Aÿ and southern slopes of Le Bout du Clos in Ambonnay, Sous le Mont is facing east. If there’s a person somewhere who finds intensely sunlit La Côte Faron too oxidative (I personally love its expressive sweet fruit!) then Sous le Mont of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ is the freshest of all six @domainejacquesselosse single-vineyard champagnes.

Egly-Ouriet Vieillissement Prolongé has spent 7 years on lees and 2 additional years after disgorgement which results in additional richness. While it shows very well today with tones of Christmas spices, apple and peach, it should probably be consumed in the coming years. It differs from the strongly chalky @eglyouriet Blanc de Noirs Les Crayères as it comes from several crus (although the majority is still from Ambonnay grand cru) and the blend contains both pinot noir and chardonnay.
