Dom Perignon 1996: 🏅Rating 97/100 (4,7🌟) Rich and generous aromas of nuts and candied fruits showing the maturity of this Champagne.
On the palate it's very rich, with citrus hints, pears and buttery. Acidity is medium(+). It definitely lacks the depth and freshness of Œnotheque, but if tasted alone, you'd be surprised how deep and massive it is.
Disgorged in 2003 it still has lots of hidden potential.
Super vintage of ‘96 which DP shows at its best.
Dom Perignon 1996 Œnotheque: 🏅Rating 98+/100 (4,85🌟) Liquid gold in color. pronounced aromas of citrus fruits and sunflower seeds. Extremely mineral with petrol notes.
Buttery both on the nose and the palate. Roasted notes. Very fresh and powerful, intense with vibrant acidity. Complexity & depth.
Spent 12 years on lees Œnotheque, which is now rebranded to P2, is full of youthful energy. Can't really assess when it will reach its full maturity.
It is amplified DP'96.
