The nose showed a touch too much of the sharpness that you can often find in more challenging vintages like this and not quite enough of the toasty, exotic notes I expect and love in old Krug GC.
The palate is weighty, crisp but again captures that sharpness and never really wraps up the finish in a way that draws you back to the glass.
We let it open for an hour or so and you sensed that there was something lurking in the wings but after that we smashed the rest and moved on to another bottle!
Not quite hitting the heights I was looking for but I sense if we had let it open a little further it might have touched a few more buttons. But when you have bottles to smash...
